The biggest piece of advice my mother ever gave me was “Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.” I’ve done that. I’ve tried to live by that. Thank you, mom, because as a storm is building to crash down barriers and the world around me, I’m prepared to take on the worst. Alone.

Preparing yourself for the worst is hard, because often, you don’t know what the worst could even be.. There’s no looking glass that shows you what is coming for you in the future. There’s no class in high school to prepare you for losing jobs, significant others,  opportunities, etc.. We are in charge of learning our lessons and making mistakes, and preparing for the worst that you HAVE seen happen to yourself or somebody you love. (I can’t stress it enough, trust your intuition in any situation.)

I want to take a second and remind you that yes, life is short and many people make it their goal to not go through it alone; but do not settle for something that doesn’t make you feel good about yourself. Our younger years (again, I’m 22) are for building your own empire and filling it what things and people that make you happy. That means you can easily change who and what is in your empire.

I know it’s a short post, but I definitely want to share a couple songs, with you guys.
